A tailored on-location wildlife photography session designed around your experience, interests and the areas you would most like to improve.
These sessions are for photographers who would like more personal support than a group workshop can offer. The day can be shaped around camera settings, fieldcraft, composition, light, subject behaviour or simply building confidence in the field.

About 1-to-1 tuition
A 1-to-1 session gives us time to focus on what you want to improve.
That might mean understanding your camera, working with a long lens, improving your bird-in-flight technique, photographing deer, using hides, planning local wildlife opportunities or learning how to make better decisions in the field.
The session will be planned around your experience level, the time of year, the location and the type of wildlife photography you are most interested in.
The aim is to give you practical help, clear guidance and more confidence when photographing wildlife in real situations.
What we can cover
Your session can be tailored around areas such as:
Camera settings for wildlife photography
Exposure, shutter speed and ISO
Autofocus modes and tracking
Long lens technique
Composition and backgrounds
Working with light
Fieldcraft and subject behaviour
Hide photography
Planning a wildlife photography outing
Reviewing your approach during the session
The exact content will depend on your goals, the location, the subject and the conditions on the day.
Who is this for
This is suitable for beginner and improving wildlife photographers who would like individual guidance in the field.
You do not need to be an expert. The session can be shaped around your current level, whether you are just starting out with wildlife photography or want help with a particular subject, technique or location.
You will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera and a suitable lens for the subject we are planning to photograph. The session is not suitable for phone photography.
Good to know
Second person: A second person can be added by agreement at a reduced additional cost. This can work well if you would like to attend with someone you know, but the session will still be kept small and personal.
Location: The location will be discussed and agreed in advance, based on your interests, experience level, travel distance, time of year and the opportunity it provides for both learning and photography.
Venue and hide costs: Some locations require permits, entrance fees, hide fees or commercial access arrangements. These will be discussed before anything is confirmed.
Walking and fitness: Some locations may involve walking, uneven ground, mud, slopes or being on your feet for part of the session. We will discuss this before confirming the day.
Weather: Wildlife photography is affected by weather and light. If conditions are unsuitable, we may need to adjust the plan or agree an alternative date.
Wildlife: Wildlife cannot be controlled. I will plan the session carefully, but sightings, behaviour, light and photographic results cannot be guaranteed.
